The aim of the course

The aim of the course is to evaluate the usefulness of a pulmonary rehabilitation program for the patient with respiratory disease. Pulmonary rehabilitation is a multidisciplinary approach to disease management. Essential information for evaluating candidates for pulmonary rehabilitation includes the diagnosis, stage of the disease, comorbidity, motivation.

Central components of a rehabilitation program are education and exercise training. The benefits from pulmonary rehabilitation can be described in terms of gains made during the course of the program and which of those gains were maintained in the months following the program. The relief of of dyspnea supports the overall program as it reinforces patient motivation and QoL.
