LThe neurology department is highly specialised in the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of nervous system disorders including Parkinson's Disease and mobility problems, Alzheimer's Disease, cerebrovascular disorders, neuropathies, inflammations of the nervous system.

The department is also especially active in research and hosts the teaching unit for the University of Padua's School of Neurology specialisation. The neurology department applies state-of-the-art methodology in the study, preparation and follow-up of patients proceeding to Parkinson's disease surgery. This type of surgery, in synergy with Vicenza City Hospital, uses non-destructive operating

techniques that allow the implant of a stimulator that acts directly on the nuclei (subthalamic) affected by the disease.

Comparative studies are being performed in direct cooperation with Italy's and Europe's most significant centres specializing in Parkinson's disease research, and patients are also offered state-of-the-art diagnosis techniques and innovative therapy protocols.

As part of teaching/training activities, Ministry of Health accredited refresher courses are also offered for specialist physicians.
The department of neurology hosts an important section of the Parkinson sufferers and families association.
